200 years of Beueler Weiberfastnacht

“Weiberfastnacht,” also known as Women’s Carnival Day, is celebrated as an unofficial holiday in cities along the Rhine such as Mainz, Cologne, and Dusseldorf. On this day, women are ceremonially presented with the key to the city by the Lord Mayor, granting them free reign to revel and celebrate throughout the day.

This event has a very long tradition in Germany, and this year is the 200 year anniversary edition.
