Rote Grütze originally comes from northern Germany, but now there are fans of this dessert every where. Some variations are “Grüne Grütze” made with green grapes and gooseberries or “Gelbe Grütze” using apricots and nectarines.
2.2 lbs frozen red fruit (cherries, currants, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries etc.)
0.5 lbs fresh raspberries
¾ cup water
1 ¼ cups sugar
2-3 tablespoons corn starch
Put frozen fruit into a pot with 200 ml water and sugar. Boil for 3 minutes. Remove from stove. Add fresh berries. Mix corn starch with some water and mix with fruit mix. Let cool down.
Prepare vanilla sauce and serve together.
